control: how to balance a drinking glass on the edge of a plate
The magic trick
The audience will see the magician balance an empty drinking glass
on the edge of the plate. The glass will not fall down and remain
stable even when the magician moves the plate from one side to another.
How to perform this trick
Before the trick is performed, the magician shows the drinking glass
to the audience in such a way that the audience sees the glass from
any view and angle. Then the same thing is done with the plate.
After the audience sees that there is nothing unusual with these
items, the magician places the drinking glass on the top part of
the plate and starts balancing the glass. After the trick is performed,
the plate and the glass are shown to the audience again.
The secret
In order to successfully perform this magic trick, the magician
will place the drinking glass to the top of the plate in such a
way that he can stabilize the glass with his thumb. Since his thumb
will be behind the plate, the audience cannot see the magician controlling
the stability of the glass and it looks like the glass is being
balanced without any additional support.
